ICI London and the Royal Academy of Music present
Transcending Borders – Academy Voices concerts
A series of seven performances celebrating Europe through song.
The goal of the cycle is to show that since the beginning of the Modern Era the different cultures developed by European Nations have been constantly opened to a mutual and respectful dialogue, so that they have influenced and inspired one another, creating a rich, multifaceted and vibrant common European culture.
Free admission, please book your place. Bookings are now open for the first three concerts, in June and July.

ARIAS
In 2018, the Academy and the Italian Cultural Institute in London established a partnership to present Transcending Borders, a concert series celebrating Europe through song. To mark the series returning to Belgrave Square, Academy Voices serenade their hosts with an evening of Italian opera.

ITALIENISCHES LIEDERBUCH
A recital bringing to life Hugo Wolf’s Italian Songbook. These settings of Italian poetry, translated into German by Paul Heyse, are regarded as perfect gems of song repertoire.

GOETHE’S ITALIANS AND OTHER STORIES
A song recital centred on the Italian characters in Goethe’s Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre, Mignon and the Harper, alongside other literary figures.

Celebrated composer of Italian song Sir Francesco Paolo Tosti joined the Royal Academy of Music as a professor in 1894. this recital features a selection of his compositions, alongside other Italian song and/or works by other Academy composers

LA SERENISSIMA
“…the city of mirrors, the city of mirages, at once solid and liquid, at once air and stone” (Erica Jong). A recital of songs inspired by the city of water – Venice.
The Italian Cultural Institute will not admit anyone showing covid-19 symptoms such as a continuous cough, a cold and a temperature.
