“The  first 10 years of IIT:  model, accomplishments and perspectives”

A talk by Prof Cingolani, followed by Q&A session and a drink or two.

An overview of the first ten years of activity of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).
10 years after the inauguration of  its first laboratory, IIT has 1600 people from 58 countries (average age 34), working on cognitive humanoids, robotics and nanotechnology for health care, multi-scale modelling and materials science. The presentation will include  a short  description of the  IIT organizational model, the discussion of some of the most important scientific achievements and of the  future research plans.

Roberto Cingolani is a Professor of General Physics at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Lecce and the Scientific Director of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Genoa. He is a member of the Coordination Committee of Human Technopole. He is also Founder and Director of the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (NNL) of National Institute for the Physics of the Matter (INFM), Lecce University.
