Presentation of the book A Bold and Dangerous Family, The Rossellis and the Fight against Mussolini by Caroline Moorehead

The author will be present, in dialogue with David Gilmour.

A Bold and Dangerous Family, The Rossellis and the Fight against Mussolini, is the 3rd in a series of books on resistance and survival in France and Italy before and during WW2. It is the story of Amelia Rosselli and her two sons, Carlo and Nello, who were among the first antifascists challenging Mussolini from soon after the March on Rome. Set against the background of fascist violence during the 1920s and 1930s, it describes the deportation of Mussolini's opponents to the penal islands off Sicily, the flight and exile of prominent anti-fascists to France, and life under the fascist regime. The Rossellis paid heavily for their views. Carlo and Nello were murdered on Galleazzo Ciano's orders in 1937. The book is based largely on the papers and letters of the Rosselli family and their friends.

The author will talk about her latest book with the historian and biographer David Gilmour.
