Young Jazz from Italy (in London): Simona Severini & Giovanni Guidi

In the first part of the gig Simona Severini will accompany her intense and touching voice with the acoustic guitar in an intimate series of songs. After her pianist Giovanni Guidi will delight London’s public with one of his inspiring solo performances.


Simona Severini is a versatile singer and songwriter with a diverse education and training.
Her career as a performer (an interpreter) has been carried out in the field of contemporary jazz through the collaboration with some important Italian musicians such as Giorgio Gaslini, Enrico Pieranunzi, Gabriele Mirabassi, Enrico Intra, Tiziana Ghiglioni and Antonio Zambrini. She has performed in the main festivals and music halls in Italy and France (Umbria Jazz, Jazz Expo, Parco della Musica, Blue Note, Auditorium Di Milano, Teatro Dal Verme, Piccolo teatro in Milano, Festival Jazz Vocal in Paris, Sunset in Paris).

Giovanni Guidi. Born in Foligno 1985, meets Enrico Rava during a Workshop in Siena. Rava notices his talent and decides to include him in “Rava Under 21” project, that would become “Rava New Generation” after a little time. With this group Guidi will record three CDs , in 2006, 2010 and in 2016, for “ESPRESSO” magazine. 
At the moment , beyond the partnership with Gianluca Petrella, his own personal trio with Thomas Morgan and Joao Lobo, his new quintet ” Inferno” with Francesco Bearzatti on tenor sax, Roberto Cecchetto on guitar plus Thomas Morgan and Joao Lobo ( a new ECM album will be released end of 2018) , the electric trio ” Drive!” with Joe Rehmer on bass and Federico Scettri on drums, and the duo ” Closer” with bandoneon player Daniele Di Bonaventura , Guidi has two new projects: “Salida” with David Virelles, Dezron Douglas and Gerald Cleaver and ” Not A What” with Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet, Aaron Burnett on tenor sax, Dezron Douglas on bass and Joe Dyson on drums. <<<
