A monologue composed of incipits from novels, put together to create the story of a single life. From classical masterpieces to more overlooked narrations, spanning different centuries and countries. The play moves across the beginning lines (called in Italian “ATTACCHI”) of a vast selection of novels: birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, maturity, old age and death, described and depicted to craft a sequence of memorable outsets of the history of literature.

An effervescent monologue that opens with the voice of a fetus, the one imagined by Ian McEwan in “Nutshell”, ending with the words of Polish Nobel laureate, Wislawa Szymborska, speaking from her first day in the afterlife.

Gianluca Greco and Silvio Impegnoso try to understand and integrate their vision of the world, interpreting the incipit of twenty novels like a homogeneous fiction. In doing so, the two actors are not dissimilar from the Englishmen reading books who were the subjects of anti-Nazi campaigns (in the picture above) or the two ignorant and clumsy but poetic characters from Flaubert, Bouvard et Pecuchet.

Novels with an extraordinary reputation will alternate in the canvas drawn by Gianluca Greco and Silvio Impegnoso, and a variety of writers from all over the world will be unveiled to a lucky few: those who read to learn, to forget, to pass and to weigh the time.

In their journey among centuries, from Genesis until the last years of the 20th century, the characters are accompanied by the illustrations of Fabio Ierardi, graphic designer and tattoo artist from Rome.

Among the sources: Italo Calvino, Dylan Thomas, Stephen King, Cormac Mccarthy, Michele Mari, Miguel de Cervantes and many others.

Gianluca Greco has worked along his career with Paolo Virzì, Francesca Archibugi and Felice Farina, lectured at the European Design Institute in Rome and collaborated with RAI.

Silvio Impegnoso is an Italian actor and perfmorer. He has worked with directors and authors such as Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Riccardo Caporossi.
