Webinar. Raphael then and now #3. David Ekserdjian and Tom Henry

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Raphael’s death, the National Gallery has announced a major exhibition to celebrate the immortal legacy of the Renaissance master.

Due to the COVID-19 emergency the exhibition has been postponed to 2022.

David Ekserdjian and Tom Henry, co-curators of the exhibition, will explore the life and works of this artist who in the short course of a career spanning just two decades, managed to shape the course of Western culture like few artists before or since.

David Ekserdjian is Professor of Art and Film History at the University of Leicester. He is a world-renowned authority on Italian Renaissance paintings and drawings and has written extensively on Correggio, Parmigianino and Raphael.

Tom Henry was Professor of History of Art at the University of Kent and Director of the Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies until September 2020. He is now an independent scholar. He is an expert on Raphael and co-curated the Prado/Louvre exhibition on Late Raphael in 2012-13.
