Pordenonelegge 2021 edition

15-19 September
Pordenonelegge 2021 edition

Held in September in the quaint northeast city of Pordenone, sixty kilometres and an hour’s drive from Venice, pordenonelegge.it is one of Italy’s oldest, longest running and most prestigious literature festivals. Founded in 2000, the fest has ever since consolidated its reputation as a go-to cultural event within and beyond the country, welcoming over 100,000 book lovers and visitors each year.
Stashed with hundreds of events, readings, workshops and panels, pordenonelegge.it is a literary feast open to people from all walks of life, ages, interests and backgrounds. All throughout the festival’s five days, a city home to some sixty thousand people – a little gem that traces its origins back to Ancient Rome, and boasts a gorgeous medieval city centre attracting tourists all year round – turns into a small-scale utopia, welcoming authors and readers from all over the world.
It’s a moveable and ever-growing stage wherein writers, philosophers, journalists, poets and artists come to share the love for their crafts, and engage with readers in debates around some of the world’s most pressing issues. For pordenonelegge.it is as much about the authors it invites as the crowds that gather around them, and that’s what makes the festival so invaluable: its ability to narrow the distance between writers and readers, and open up spaces for dialogue and cultural exchange.
