29 drawings, pencil on Canson paper
Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe del Comune di Santa Croce sull’Arno, Pisa

Italian Cultural Institute in London
24 November – 23 December 2021
Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm

This exhibition is organised on the occasion of AMACI’s 17th Contemporary Day

“The groups of drawings that make up the Self-portrait are made quickly, but with a daily ritual repetition over the months. I look at myself in the mirror or in the reflection of some glass, without looking at the sheet. I look for an introspective concentration, digging in my innermost sides. So I ‘appear’ at myself, at the end of the sketch” –Chiara Camoni

Winner of the Over 35 Section of the Public Call “Cantica21. Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere” promoted by the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.

Cantica21 gathered artistic project proposals, with the subsequent production of original works, intended to expand public collections and to become part of a “scattered” art exhibition within the spaces of the diplomatic-consular network and of the Italian Cultural Institutes around the world. The project is divided into three distinct sections: the first, reserved for artists or collectives up to 35 years of age, including emerging artists; the second for artists or collectives over the age of 35; the third for works (with no restrictions of technique) dedicated to Dante Alighieri.

“Cantica21. Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere” is a joint initiative promoted by the MAECI-DGSP and MiC-DGCC, in line with the integrated promotion plan Vivere all’italiana, with the goal of promoting and stimulating research and practice of contemporary visual arts, supporting and relaunching the creative skills of Italian artists and creators.
