Elena Ferrante: A Literary phenomenon

Elena Ferrante: A Literary phenomenon

Elena Ferrante is the author of The Days of Abandonment, Troubling Love and The Lost Daughter, as well as of the immensely popular Neapolitan Novels series, which include: My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay and the latest The Story of the Lost Child (all published by Europa Editions). Her writing has been variously compared to Balzac, Dickens, Doris Lessing, Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood to name but a few, and her anonymous stance has sparked much debate on the role of the author.
The day after the announcement of the winner of the Man Booker International Prize, for which The Story of the Lost Child has been shortlisted, the Chair of the Judges Boyd Tonkin discusses with Ferrante’s publisher Sandra Ozzola Ferri and editor Eva Ferri this phenomenon that has taken the literary world by storm.

Sandra Ozzola Ferri is Publisher, President and co-founder of Edizioni E/O and Europa Editions. Editor and friend to Elena Ferrante, she has worked with her from the start.

Eva Ferri is an editor of literary fiction for both Europa Editions and Edizioni E/O

Boyd Tonkin is a writer, journalist and critic who has judged the Booker Prize, the Whitbread biography award, the Commonwealth Writers Prize and the David Cohen Prize. He is Chair of the Judges at the Man Booker International Prize 2016.
