An event to celebrate the life and work of Enrico Fermi (Nobel Prize 1938), his influence on British science and the opening of the Enrico Fermi Historical Museum of Physics and Study and Research Centre in Rome. The lecture will concentrate on the relationship betwenn the great physicist and nuclear energy, and on his time and work in Los Alamos and in Rome.
Professor Luisa Cifarelli is the President of the Italian Physical Society (SIF) and President of the Centro Fermi, Rome.
Professor Frank Close is an Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford.
Dr Simone Turchetti is a lecturer Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of Manchester.
Professor Paolo G. Radaelli is the Dr Lee’s Professor of Experimental Philosophy, University of Oxford, and Professorial Fellow in Physics, Wadham College.
