Emerging Translator Mentorship 2020-21

Georgia Wall has been awarded the prestigious Emerging Translators Mentorship Programme for Italian. Supported by ICI London, she will have the chance to be mentored by Howard Curtis (renowned translator of, among others, Luigi Pirandello, Beppe Fenoglio, Leonardo Sciascia, Gianrico Carofiglio, Pietro Grossi, Fabio Geda, Paolo Sorrentino, Marco Malvaldi and many more) to hone her skills as a professional translator.

The names of the winners were announced on 30 September (International Translation Day)
The National Centre for Writing translation mentorship programme, founded by Daniel Hahn in 2010, aims to develop successive new cohorts of literary translators into English, particularly for languages whose literature is currently under-represented in English translation.

The scheme matches up experienced translators with emerging ones for a six-month period during which they work together on practical projects, developing their craft through working on a chosen text or texts.
