A concert and a presentation of the new recording dedicated to the great Italian composer Ottorino Respighi (1879 – 1936).
M° Crudele and music critic Gregorio Moppi will present the new CD Respighi – Pini di Roma, Impressioni brasiliane, Belkis, regina di Saba recently released by LINN.
And then, the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s string quartet composed of Pieter Schoeman (First Violin), Tania Mazzetti (Second Violin), Richard Waters (Viola), Kristina Blaumane (Cello) will perform selected music by Ottorino Respighi.
Alessandro Crudele was born in Milan. He studied violin and composition at the Conservatorio di Milano. His education as a conductor started at an early age. From 1999 to 2003, he studied at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena where he was awarded several scholarships and the most prestigious Diploma d’Onore. He received further instruction from Christoph von Dohnányi and Sir Simon Rattle. He currently lives in Berlin.
Among the orchestras he has conducted, and will conduct during the next season, are the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Berliner Symphoniker, Bochumer Symphoniker, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais, FOK Prague Symphony Orchestra, RTS Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica George Enescu, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Orchestra della Toscana, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa . He is Principal Guest Conductor of the RTS Symphony Orchestra in Belgrade. In 2000 Crudele founded Orchestra UniMi in Milan, and was its Music Director until 2020. From then on, he has assumed the role of Honorary Conductor. He regularly collaborates with youth orchestras. From 2003 to 2006, he was a regular guest of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scala, and in 2014/15 he conducted the Jeune Orchestre International de Monte-Carlo, an orchestra that includes some of the best young musicians from across Europe.
Gregorio Moppi was born in Florence, where he studied piano at the Conservatorio, took a degree in Music History and a PhD in History of the Performing Arts with a thesis on “Mena le lance su per le banche”. Musica nella commedia italiana del Cinquecento.He is the music critic for Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica and the monthly magazine Amadeus. He regularly writes explanatory captions for concerts in the main Italian music Institutions. He has written around 20 entries for the Dizionario biografico degli italiani (Treccani), which he has also co-edited for the section ‘music’. He has written extensively about Vocal Music in the Renaissance and has recently focused his work on the Generazione dell’Ottanta and the erudite music of 1968. He teaches Music History at the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole and at the Conservatorio “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence.
