NewItalianBooks

NewItalianBooks is a project by the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) the Centro per il libro e la lettura (part of MiBACT) in collaboration with the Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE), aimed at Italian and foreign publishers, literary agents, translators, Italianists, Italian Cultural Institutes, Italians abroad and all literature lovers.

On 2 July, ICI London Director Katia Pizzi illustrated the project, together with Paolo Grossi (MAECI), who presented the portal and the recent extraordinary measures taken by the Directorate-General for the Promotion of the Sistema Paese MAECI in support of the publishing sector.

Then, the Directors of ICI London, Paris, Madrid and Munich interviewed each a representative of the publishing business in the respective country: Katia Pizzi spoke to Ka Bradley (Granta Books); Fabio Gambaro (Paris),  to Liana Levi (Liana Levi Edizioni); Laura Pugno (Madrid) to Luis Solano (Libros del Asteroide); and Francesco Ziosi (Munich) to Piero Salabè (Hanser Verlag).

They discussed Italian publishing abroad, the relationship between Italian and foreign publishers, the plans for new Italian books to be published abroad, and the prospects of use of the portal newitalianbooks.it
