On the occasion of the 10th edition of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, ICI London is pleased to host a conversation between Michele Pascarella and Gail Anderson, following the publication of Pascarella’s book Napoli on the Road (2025, Ryland Peters & Small).

Michele Pascarella, the “best pizza maker in the world” , talks about pizza, Italian traditional cuisine, ingredients and food childhood memories. Born in Maddaloni, near Naples, Italy, he moved to the UK when he was 19. He started his business by driving around with his ‘Napoli on the Road’ three-wheeled Ape Piaggio truck complete with wood-fired oven, making pizza at markets across London. He is now the owner of two hugely popular pizza restaurants in London.

He was named the best pizza maker on the planet at the Ferrarelle World 50 Top Pizza Europa Awards 2023.

Gail Anderson is a London-based American Director & Business Strategy Consultant, who loves Italy and Italian food and culture
