Notte prima degli esami: set in Rome in 1989, the film follows Luca, a high school student preparing for his final exams (maturità), whose summer becomes increasingly complicated after he insults his strict teacher, only to discover that the same teacher will be on his exam board. At the same time, Luca falls for Claudia, a mysterious girl he meets at a party, who turns out to be the teacher’s daughter. As exams
approach, Luca and his friends navigate first loves, betrayals, and personal challenges, capturing the uncertainty and excitement of the last days before adulthood.

As the “night before the exams” approaches, relationships are tested and expectations clash with reality, culminating in a bittersweet transition into adulthood against the backdrop of a country celebrating victory.
