ICI London is pleased to invite you to “An evening of Italian art” on the 3rd of September 2025 at 6.30 pm at ICI London.
Nick Trend will be joined by Gabriele Finaldi, the Director of the National Gallery in London, to celebrate Nick’s new book, Italy: In the Footsteps of the Great Artists (Thames & Hudson, September 2025). The book is the first in a new series exploring the pleasures and insights to be gained by seeing iconic paintings, sculptures, and frescoes in the churches, villas, and palaces for which they were originally made. It is an inspirational way both to plan a cultural holiday and to learn more about art history, and is illustrated by fabulous photographs of the destinations and high-quality reproductions of the artworks themselves.
The discussion will follow the themes of the book and consider the role of the National Gallery as custodians of one of the world’s greatest collections of Italian Art.
It will be moderated by author Daisy Dunn and there will be time for questions afterwards.
