1. Book O Clock – Di che colore è la libertà

Saturday 25 April, 3pm at the Victoria Library,  160 Buckingham Palace Rd, London SW1W 9TR

Book O’Clock with Gloria Danili: Di che colore è la libertà by Roberto Piumini, illustrations by Giovanni Manna

In Italian

“Book O’Clock” — the book club for children aged 4 to 11 and their families, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in London in collaboration with children’s and YA author Gloria Danili and SIAL school — has now moved from its historic home in Holland Park to the Children’s Room of the wonderful Victoria Library (just a few minutes from Victoria train station), and it takes place on Saturday afternoons.

To mark this transition, Book O’Clock now proudly features a brand-new logo created by Mirco Maselli (aka M V Maselli, former artist for Lupo Alberto, and author of books, comics and graphic novels).

At the next appointment on April 25th, Gloria Danili is waiting for you for a dive into an important page of Italian history – the Resistance – and a leap into the colors of our flag! Keeping us company will be the vibrant picture book “Di che colore è la libertà” (“What Color Is Freedom?”) written by Roberto Piumini and illustrated by Giovanni Manna for Mondadori.

After following the adventures of little Bruno, nicknamed Brubru, among big questions about the meaning of History, battles, and Freedom—told through Roberto Piumini’s engaging narration and Giovanni Manna’s magnetic illustrations—our creative Book O’Clockers will take on the challenge of creating a special Italian flag. “What color do you want your handkerchief to be, Brubru?” “My favorite color,” he replied. “The color of the sun.”

As always, don’t forget to set your watches: story time is about to strike again!

P.S. Participation in the event is free, subject to registration on the institute’s website.
