ICI London is pleased to support the translation and showcase of the first British-English version of Miracoli Metropolitani / Suburban Miracles by Gabriele Di Luca. Marco Young has translated this play as part of the Foreign Affairs Theatre Translator Mentorship Scheme 2022-23, which supports new theatre translators in the development of an original English translation of a contemporary play.
The scheme, which comprises an initial period of independent work on a first draft of the play and a series of workshops and readings by Foreign Affairs’ actors ensemble, will culminate in a public showcase of extracts from the plays (from Hungary, Norway and Mexico as well as Italy) on the 25th and 26th January, at the Camden People’s Theatre. Each night will include four play readings (20-minute extracts) performed by an international ensemble, followed by a post-show discussion with the translators and creative team.
