GIUSI BATTAGLIA, born in Palermo, currently lives in Milan, where she works as a journalist and press officer and where she has founded her own media communications firm. She is passionate about food and cooking, and the popularity of  the social media posts of her dishes led to the Sicilian cookery show  Giusina in Cucina for the Food Network channel. The show was an instant success and it has now reached its 8th series. Since October 2022 she also presents another programme, also on Food Network,  Ci vediamo al bar, with Paolo Briguglia. She has published several cookery books: Giusina in cucina. La Sicilia è servita (2021), Viaggio in Sicilia (2022), Le ricette della mia vita (2023), and the recent Sicilia, acqua e farina(2024) all published by Cairo.

GIORGIO LOCATELLI is one of  the UK’s most-respected chefs and a great promoter of Italian cuisine and culture. In 1999 he was awarded his first Michelin star at Zafferano and, after opening Locanda Locatelli in 2002, has kept his star for over twenty years. As an Italian expat, he has taken his recipes with him, adapted and presented them to new audiences. His passion for food and conviviality has charmed viewers and readers alike through Locatelli’s TV programmes and books, such as Made in Italy (2006), Italy Unpacked (BBC, 2013-2015) and Made at Home (2017). He has been starring on Masterchef Italia since 2019.

The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World was launched in 2015 to promote fine Italian cuisine and our agri-food products. Thanks to the number and quality of events proposed around the world by the Ministry’s foreign network, it has been established over the years as an event of great importance.

Seminars and conferences, meetings with chefs and cookery courses, tastings and dinners accompany the sales promotion activities. The story of Italian cuisine is also told through its projection in art, with movies, concerts and photo exhibitions. The event also includes discussions on highly topical issues: the relationship between food and environmental sustainability, the culture of healthy food, food safety, the right to food, food education, territorial identity and biodiversity.

The project, conceived and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, was developed internally by a large working group involving other Italian ministries and the different entities that represent Italian cuisine and Italy in the world.

The initiative was created and developed according to the integrated promotion plan Vivere ALL’Italiana
