ICI London and the Collective Autocoscienza Writing Group were pleased to present the first public talk by Lea Melandri in the UK. Dedicated to key lessons from her long-standing career as a writer, feminist activist, and Chair of the Free University of Women in Milan, during the talk Melandri discussed the acclaimed film “Scuola Senza Fine” (School Without End) directed by Adriana Monti (1983), in conversation with Maddalena Fragnito The talk was introduced by Lucia Farinati and Sara Paiola (Autocoscienza Writing Group). The in-person experiential writing workshop was led by Lea Melandri on the 25th of January at ICI London Library. “Scrittura di esperienza” (Experiential Writing) is a feminist methodology and a political practice developed by Lea Melandri in the early 1990s, as a continuation and reappraisal of Italian feminist practices of “autocoscienza” (Consciousness Raising) of the 1970s including the practice of the unconscious. The two-day event was organised by ICI London and Autocoscienza Writing Group (Lucia Farinati, Sara Paiola, Alessia Arcuri, Sara Ortolani, Manuela Galetto, Elisa Fontana, Eleonora Bottini, Valentina Caivano e Filomena Campus).
