Studio 1. I Miss You So Much! is the first solo performance installation of choreographer and performance artist Valerie Tameu in the UK, marking a significant step in her practice. This work is commissioned by SPAZIO GRIOT and ICI London, and curated by Johanne Affricot. The artist continues her exploration of the theme of memory in 1980s Turin, a working-class city and site of immigration. In her multi-layered narrative, she interrogates the concept of the event and the traces it leaves behind. With moving images, photographs, texts, clothes, and props, Studio 1. I Miss You So Much! renders Tameu’s idea of ephemerality, memory, archive as circulatory forms of representation, transferring their content from one medium to another in an attempt to find one own’s position in a collective history.
