Future Classics. Screening the New Italian Cinema #5
Future Classics is a new film series dedicated to Italian cinema and its contemporary classics, offering a vivid and dynamic portrait of Italy — its faces, landscapes and stories. Curated by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Londra and CinemaItaliaUK, the programme highlights a key phase of renewal and evolution in Italian cinema: the wave of new directors, the rise of independent producers and the revival of genre filmmaking.
Screenings will take place monthly (excluding July and August) throughout 2026 in selected cinemas in central London.

Three crucial moments mark the life of the famous Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda. Three moments that tell the political value of her private life that delve deeper into the relationship between women and literature as well as the contemporary women’s struggle.

This special screening is one of the series of events that accompany the International Conference Grazia Deledda’s Waves: Networks, Memories and Legacies 100 Years After the Nobel Prize (25-26 September, Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge) organised by the Italian Section of the University of Cambridge, the Cambridge-Intesa Sanpaolo Fund for Italian, the British Academy, the Italian Cultural Institute in London, the Society for Italian Studies, the London-based association Il Circolo, the Interdisciplinary Network for Nineteenth-Century Italian Studies Ottocentismi, the Association for the Study of Modern Italy and the British-Italian Society, to mark the centenary of Grazia Deledda’s Nobel Prize in Literature. Being the only Italian woman to have earned this recognition, Grazia Deledda holds a unique role in the history of world literature. This anniversary offers a timely opportunity for scholars to revisit her contributions through contemporary lenses, and to engage with her works in ways that acknowledge both her historical importance and modern relevance.
