Introduction and post-screening discussion with director Mujah Maraini Melehi, in conversation with Lara Veroner and Sandra Romito.

Part of the Public Programme dedicated to the intellectual Fosco Maraini, the documentary is a journey through the memory of the Maraini family.

Tokyo, 1943: the Italian anthropologist Fosco Maraini and his wife Topazia Alliata refuse to swear allegiance to the Republic of Salò. As a consequence of their choice, they are sent to a prison camp in Nagoya together with their three daughters, Dacia, Yuki and Toni.
Many years later, director Mujah Maraini Melehi, daughter of Toni and granddaughter of Fosco, returns to Japan to retrace her family’s experience and to rework it as her own through the recovery of memory.

In Italian with English subtitles.
