The Italian Cultural Institute in London (ICI London) is delighted to host, in collaboration with the Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana, the London leg of the travelling exhibition “Palazzo Treccani”, on display from 12 September to 9 October 2025 at ICI London.
Celebrating its centenary, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the history of Treccani, an institution that since 1925 has been at the service of Italy’s culture and history: a galaxy of knowledge that supports and encourages dialogue among individuals, institutions, organisations and communities.
After its inauguration in Rome earlier this year, attended by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, the exhibition arrives in London for its next international stage. The project presents, in an innovative form and setting, the value of Treccani’s knowledge: an imaginary museum that organises knowledge into systems, prompting visitors to reflect on the great themes of our century and offering tools to better understand the complexity of the world around us.
The public will have the opportunity to explore and retrace Treccani’s history through a path enriched by facsimiles of illuminated manuscripts and Renaissance drawings, art graphics, design objects and works of fine craftsmanship produced by Treccani. A special section, the “Impossible Salon” (Salone impossibile), stages an encounter between some of the prominent figures who have marked the history of the Institute: the voices of Massimo Bray, Rita Levi Montalcini, Mimmo Paladino, Emilio Isgrò and Alessandro Mendini weave together into an evocative and collective narrative of Italian culture.
