Classical Plays at the Greek Theatre, Syracuse, 56th Edition

ICI London and Fondazione INDA (Istituto Nazionale del Dramma Antico) present the 2021 Season.

Presentation and round table with Marina Valensise (Managing Director of the Fondazione Inda), Jacopo Gassmann (director, Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides), Nicola Gardini (Professor of Italian and Comparative Literature, Oxford) followed by live Q&A.

Introduced by ICI London Director Katia Pizzi.

The Greek Theatre in the Neapolis Archaeological Park, in the Sicilian city of Syracuse, once again hosts the classical plays written by the ancient Greek playwrights, honouring a long tradition of giving life back to ancient drama and delivering it to the present generation.

After the cancellation of last year’s season due to the pandemic, this summer, from 3 July to 21 August, audiences will be able to enjoy Coefore Eumenidi by Aeschylus, directed by Davide Livermore, The Bacchae by Euripides, directed by Carlus Padrissa, and The Clouds by Aristophanes, directed by Antonio Calenda.

While Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides, directed by Jacopo Gassmann, will take place in 2022.
