We are deeply saddened by the passing of Roberto Calasso, author, translator, publisher and one of the finest minds of our age.
Born in Florence in 1941, Calasso was the iconic head of the publishing house Adelphi, where he worked since 1962. Some of his best-known works include Tiepolo Pink, The Marriage of Cadmo and Harmony (winner of the Prix Veillon and the Prix du Meilleur Livre Etanger), Literature and the Gods, Ka and K. Our Institute had the privilege to host Calasso for a presentation of his book The Art of the Publisher.
