Italian  Sounds in London (29 October – 19 December)

Invisible Cities – Musical tales inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel

Produced by Baroquestock

Arriving at each new city, the traveller finds again a past of his that he did not know he had: this foreigness of what you no longer possess lies in wait for you in foreign, unpossessed places (I. Calvino – Invisible Cities)

Seven Invisible Cities’ soundtracks, as unstable and fleeting as possible, where each of the past composers and present musicians narrates their own City with the greatest possible freedom. Our cities will be nostalgic, fervent, sweet, ambitious, avant-garde, thoughtful, erudite, light-hearted and in love. Music has always sublimated and helped the synthesis of different cities precisely through emotions.

Italian Sounds in London is a project started in 2021 with the aim of exploring the cultural and musical connections between Italy and the British Isles. The well-beaten paths between both countries are a source of inspiration, with stories of musicians travelling around Europe, exchanging material, and influencing each other in ways which have left both countries with lasting flavour of each other.
