A webinar with epidemiologist Paolo Vineis (Imperial College London), physicist Roberto Cingolani (Leonardo Company) and journalist Luca Carra (Scienza in Rete), authors of the book “Prevenire. Manifesto per una tecnopolitica” (Einaudi, 2020)

The webinar will be opened by the Ambassador of Italy to the United Kingdom Raffaele Trombetta

The technical progress that has developed alongside our civilisation for over ten thousand years has improved our quality of life, given us hope, and turned Homo sapiens into the dominant species on the planet. But now the bill has arrived in the form of three debts: socioeconomic (in the form of inequality), environmental (climate change, pollution, reduction of biodiversity) and cognitive (the aspects of the modern infosphere). The coronavirus pandemic is one aspect of these debts that we are seeing develop in real time. The book puts forward a number of proposals to repay the debts, through policies designed to systematically reduce inequality, new social and technological practices that activate both environmental and health, and promotion of an “ecology of the mind” that makes public communication systems more fair and sustainable.
