On the occasion of the 14th edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto which will take place in Turin on 22-26 September: the largest and most important international event dedicated to food politics, sustainable agriculture and the environment, organised by Slow Food, the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin. The theme of this edition will be regeneration.
Slow Food wants to harness the energy of its global movement by gathering food producers and activists from all over the world in Turin. The goal of the event is to design a different future for food, a future that takes shape through the daily choices of individuals, in the collective efforts of communities, and in the policies of both public and private institutions. The tagline of the event, RegenerAction, reflects the invitation to actively take part in this change.
This event in London will be introduced by Giovanni Sacchi, Director of the Italian Trade Agency in London, and Maria Teresa De Palma, Cultural Attaché at the Italian Cultural Institute in London.
Slow Food is a worldwide network of local communities founded in 1989 in order to counteract the disappearance of local food traditions and the spread of fast food culture. Since then, Slow Food has grown to become a global movement that involves millions of people in more than 160 countries and works so that we can all have access to good, clean, and fair food.
Terra Madre was launched in 2004 as a global gathering of food producers from all over the world, and became a means of developing and applying the Slow Food philosophy worldwide. Ever since it started, Terra Madre has been the beating heart of the Slow Food movement, and it is thanks to Terra Madre that Slow Food has been able to spread to over 160 countries.
